2019 Backpack Hunting Tipi (Our) Tents Guide

One of the most important benefits of backcountry hunting out of a backpack, is the ability to carry everything you need to spend the night in the woods. For certain kinds of hunting, this means walking out of the reaches of roads, and setting up a base camp. Then spending a considerable amount of time living out of a tent.  Having the capability to backpack hunt makes it so that you can improvise your campsite location, how far you want to explore, and how long you want to stay out. No rushing back to the car or campground before dark!

Since the best time to hunt is late autumn into winter season, this means your shelter must be able to hold up to the ever changing weather.  During this time of year the weather can turn on a dime.

Generally it is important that your shelter functions with two purposes. The first being your home for the night, and the second being a quick refuge to put up to get out of the sun or dynamic weather conditions. It is common for a hunter to put up a tarp in the middle of the afternoon to get out of the sun, and do some glassing for animal activity.

All of these shelters can be customized to use a tent wood stove
